July 2, 2008: Competitors can purchase photos of their race runs each afternoon at Huck Finn Rafting, half a block from race headquarters (pictures from previous days will remain available too).

June 29, 2008: From this date forward, do not bother mailing entry forms. Just bring them to race headquarters by at least the day before your event. Headquarters is on North Andrews Street in Hot Springs is open from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm July 8-12. Please also send an email to fbracechair@earthlink.net indicating what days and what classes you will be entering. Thanks!!

June 24, 2008: Several folks have inquired recently about when the races start each day. Our goal is to start downriver from the Barnard launch site around 9:00 each morning. However, flexibility will be an important attribute that week!! Thanks.

June 16, 2008: ANNOUNCEMENT: THE NATIONALS WILL BE HELD ON THE FRENCH BROAD RIVER AS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED. For their assistance as we evaluated what to do, we want to thank Duke Power, Nantahala Outdoor Center and the other members of the Nantahala Gorge Association, the Wayah Ranger District office and, in particular, Bunny Johns. We appreciate their willingness to work with us on such short notice.

June 10, 2008: The Great Rappahannock Whitewater Canoe Race has been rescheduled for June 29 (a Sunday). This race is a perfect warm-up for the Nationals!! See http://grwcr.org

June 9, 2008: After a brief respite, the French Broad is again running at record lows for this time of year. WE ARE INVESTIGATING THE POSSIBILITY OF MOVING THE EVENT TO THE NANTAHALA RIVER. We do not want to do that and, in fact, we will not even be able to unless some administrative matters work out. As soon as there is any news, it will be posted here.

May 27, 2008: The string of record lows has now reached eight days. Please send an e-mail to fbracechair@earthlink.net if you intend to come to the Learn the Lines from the Ladies Day on May 31. Thanks.

May 21, 2008: In a dramatic change from a few weeks ago, Section 9 runs at all-time record lows for the dates of May 19, 20 and 21, lower even than the very bad drought year of 1988.

August, 2007: FB Canoe Racing submits a bid to host the 2008 American Canoe Association White Water Open Canoe Downriver National Championships on the French Broad River near Hot Springs, North Carolina.
